Bassoon Bocal Trial Policy
We offer convenient options for trying bassoon bocals to ensure you find the perfect fit for your instrument. Whether in-store or by mail, our trial process is designed to make your experience straightforward and enjoyable.
In-Store Trials:
For the greatest range of options, visit our Berkeley shop, where you can try all the bocals we have in stock.
We understand that 30 minutes in a store isn’t nearly enough time to decide if a bocal is right for you, so we encourage customers to take up to 4 bocals home for a thorough trial. Play them in your spaces, for your teachers, and with your colleagues—we want you to find the bocal that works best for you!
Up to 4 bocals may be taken on trial. While there is no fee for the trial itself, we do require a credit card on file.
Trials last 1 week from the date you take the bocals from our shop.
Mail Order Trials:
Customers can request a trial of up to 4 bassoon bocals at one time by mail. If you aren’t sure which bocals to try or want to discuss bocal options, call us and ask to speak with one of our bassoon specialists!
For trials conducted via mail, customers are responsible for shipping and insurance costs. Shipping charges are as follows:
- Up to 4 Bocals:
- $30 One Way
- $55 Round Trip
Trials by mail last 1 week from the date you receive the bocals. We understand that in some cases there may be circumstances that require a trial period longer than 1 week. If you need extra time to make a decision or your bocals were delayed in transit, call us and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Please note: Due to the popularity and demand for some bocal models, we may not be able to extend all trials.
Additional Information:
- Unsure which bocals to try? Contact our bassoon specialists for personalized recommendations tailored to your needs.
- All bocals must be returned in their original condition if not purchased.

We suggest you set aside at least an hour to try various instruments and options. We encourage you to take your time exploring different musical passages and working with our specialists to gauge how well the instrument suits you.
Customers may take 2 instruments on trial. Once you have identified one or two instruments you really like, we recommend taking them home for a one-week trial. Play them in your spaces, for your teachers, and with your colleagues. We want you to find an instrument that works best for your unique circumstances.
